Pacific Coast Cabling Opens Education Center for Betterment of Company, Community and Industry

12/21/2000

CHATSWORTH, Calif. — December 21, 2000 — Continuing its dedication to providing individuals with opportunities to advance their careers and work in today's competitive and changing IT environments, Pacific Coast Cabling (www.pccinc.com) has launched The Pacific Coast Cabling Education Center, one of only six in California and 98 across the nation, to provide professional instruction on all aspects of design, installation and maintenance of communications systems.

As a Licensed Vendor of the Cabling Installation Program developed by BICSI, the industry's leading not-for-profit telecommunications association, The Pacific Coast Cabling Education Center provides certified courses by instructors who are leaders in our industry.

The Center, located on-site at Pacific Coast Cabling Chatsworth, Calif. office, offers three course levels in the Program: Installer Level 1, Installer Level 2 and Technician Level. Each course is tailored to a variety of skill and experience levels - for students with no experience whatsoever to students who have worked in the industry for years. At each step, technical topics are covered including structured premises cabling systems; standards, codes and methodologies; job plans; testing; splicing; LANs; closets; connectors; retrofitting; troubleshooting; and industry practices. The cost for each course is $1,150, with additional exam fees.

The program requires a set amount of experience or classroom training and successful examination scores before moving on to the next level. Once the students pass the exams, On-the-Job-Training is required for renewal or to apply for the next level.

David Richards, the Center's manager said, "The courses are valuable to the individual because students are taught the industry-standards by an expert; to the community because it increases job opportunity; and to the industry at large because better trained individuals means higher quality work." Richards has 12 years of experience working in the telecommunications industry.

Pacific Coast Cabling has a BICSI training program in place that will train 100% of its technical workforce by next year, at no cost to their employees.

"The cabling industry is continuing to experience tremendous growth and offers very competitive salaries, even for entry-level positions," said David Burr, Pacific Coast Cabling's president and CEO. "Our Education Center proves that we are dedicated to providing hands-on learning opportunities about our growing industry."
