Excerpt (click on link above for entire newsletter contents) Before I go any further, I want to thank past Director Stephan Fowler, RCDD, for contributing his time and talent to BICSI. Thank you, Steve, for your hard work, dedication, and leadership on behalf of all Western Region members over the past two years. Your efforts have been much appreciated. My first official order of business was to attend the annual BICSI Business Meeting and installation of new officers at the BICSI Winter Conference in Orlando last month. More than 225 members from our area made the long trek across country to attend the Conference. It was great to meet many of you at the Region lunch held just after the business meeting. I especially appreciated the strong attendance of members from the state of Arizona at the lunch. A big congratulations goes out to Region member Keith Lane, RCDD/NTS Specialist, PE, LC, LEED A.P. from SASCO in Woodinville, WA. Keith’s entry in BICSI’s Telecom in Ten contest was acknowledged at the Conference Awards Banquet as a winner in the Buildings category. Way to go, Keith! From the Director
Greetings
This is my first communication with most of you since my election as BICSI’s U.S. Western Region Director last fall.
Thank you for your support and your vote of confidence. I look forward to representing the more than 2270 members that make up our region. I will work hard to ensure that your concerns and needs are represented on the BICSI Board of Directors. Please let me know your thoughts and ideas, both about BICSI and the information transport systems industry at large.
If you missed the Winter Conference, you still have two more chances this year to take part in one of these great events featuring superior technical presentations, professional development speakers, and exhibits of the latest industry products and services. An added incentive is that the Spring Conference will be held in our Region—I hope to see many of you there.

(We’re hoping to hold an RCDD exam the day before the meeting.)
(This will be a joint meeting with the BICSI Canadian Region.)
Details will be provided as soon as they become available. Check out the Region News, BICSI News, and BICSI e-mails for more information.
Many Western Region members will be saddened to learn of the death of Brad Duenckel, RCDD/OSP Specialist. He was killed in a winter storm accident last month. A BICSI member since 2000, Brad was employed for the last 14 years as Senior Estimator for Pacific Coast Cabling, in Chatsworth, CA. He is survived by his wife Kathy and two children, son Larson, four years old and daughter Brandelyn, seven years old. Pacific Coast Cabling (PCC) has established a trust fund for Brad’s children. Donations can be made by contacting Amy Coley or Kate Garrity in the PCC Human Resources Department at 800-313-1911.
After a year’s break, an old friend is coming back to a computer near you, and this is the first edition. The Region News will be published electronically on a bimonthly schedule: February April, June, August, October, and December.
